The Kurdish town hall meeting in Edmonton today was very successful, with hundreds from the Alberta Kurdish community attending. It started with the Kurdish and Canadian anthems.
Mr. Shifa Barzani sent greetings from Kak Massoud Barzani to the community and talked about the importance of Kurds unity and the work together to have a strong Kurdish lobby in north America. and answered community questions.
The MPs Mr. Tom Kmiec and Mr. Ziad Aboultaif shared their recent trip to Kurdistan and reminded everyone that there is always hope for the Kurds. and were pleased to answer the community questions.
The event ended with the community taking pictures with the guests, wrapping up a successful gathering.

Today, our board agreed to send urgent letters to the leaders, appealing for support in establishing a no-fly zone in Rojava. The goal is to protect civilians from escalating Turkish aggression and indiscriminate bombings. Your solidarity is crucial in raising awareness .

Board Members Meeting with Alberta Diaspora Kurdish community members

The meeting was with Calgary Kurdish house and Alberta Diaspora Kurdish community members. Kak Ahmed Benavi and Kak Ali Waisi
We talked about working together to bring our community members together and make sure we have a strong united voice and discuss our issues and challenges within the Canadian community and political culture. We discussed the following: Plan to work together for future events and projects new year party, Newroz 2024 and Global festival 2024, also a town hall meeting with members of the Canadian Parliament who recently visited Kurdistan.
The Kurdish Movie show was discussed and it is most likely on Dec 2023.
The newcomers support letter was discussed and the requirement for the membership and other fees to enhance the community.
Walid handed over financial documents and statements to Khushnav and Jamil, ensuring transparency and accountability.

All newly elected board members from November 12, 2023, were present at the meeting, with no absences noted. Additionally, seven community members joined as guests, prompting the decision to elect more board members, bringing the total to nine.
The meeting commenced with Kak Khoshnav introducing himself. Various participants shared insights on collaboration, emphasizing the importance of working together as a unified voice to achieve community goals.
Furthermore, Kak Ercan from Bakur was elected as the ninth board member. Following this, the entire board voted to appoint two vice presidents, and portfolios were assigned to different members.
