Turkish warplanes and drones targeted directly the infrastructure in the areas of Rojava self-administration ( northern Syria) during their recent escalation that lasted for three days. This included civilian-owned facilities such as service, economic, oil, and electricity installations, as well as commercial warehouses. The attacks also hit the sole medical oxygen manufacturing plant in northeast Syria and the only hospital for kidney dialysis, constituting a clear and public violation of human rights.
The series of Turkish airstrikes continued from the 23rd Dec up to date, significantly affecting the region's residents from a medical perspective. Hospitals were targeted, and the kidney dialysis hospital in Qamishli went out of service. The medical oxygen production center was also affected, leading to the death of a kidney patient due to the inability to undergo dialysis in the hospital, in addition to a severe shortage of oxygen in hospitals.
In a related context, the electrical network was damaged, causing a complete blackout in the area. Domestic gas supply was lost, and there was a severe fuel shortage due to the targeting of fuel stations in Qamishli and oil facilities in Rmelan and Al-Qahtaniyah in the northern countryside of Hasakah.
Economically and in the lives of citizens, Turkish aircraft directly targeted bakeries, mills, lentil and olive warehouses, as well as wheat silos.
The Turkish airstrikes had a significant impact on the lives of citizens, especially children, causing a state of terror as civilian homes and locations within residential neighborhoods were targeted. The bombardment led to displacement of residents in border areas towards safer locations away from the borders to avoid the danger posed by Turkish airstrikes, reflecting a clear policy aimed at destabilizing the region and forcing residents to evacuate their areas.
On the educational front, the educational process came to a halt, and schools were closed until further notice, out of fear of being targeted and casualties occurring.
