The screening is organized by the Calgary Kurdish House Association and hosted at Canyon Meadows Cinemas in Calgary.

In an early 1980s Syrian border village, young Shero begins his first school experience. A new teacher arrives, aiming to shape the Kurdish children into strong Pan-Arabic comrades, emphasizing reverence for the regime and promoting animosity towards Jews.
Shero faces a dilemma as his friendly neighbors go against what the teacher is saying.. The film, infused with humor and satire, portrays Shero's childhood navigating between moments of lightness amid dictatorship and dark drama. As he dreams of owning a television for cartoons, he also witnesses the gradual oppression of adults around him, grappling with despotism, violence, and nationalism.

This award-winning film, with English subtitles, has a runtime of 124 minutes.
